The week after my graduation, I went back to Ireland for a hiking trip up North with my Mum's family. I flew with CityJet from Cambridge Airport and it was so relaxing! I left work in a taxi an hour and a half before the flight and was at the tiny airport's only departure gate about twenty minutes later. The whole experience was amazing! Comfy chairs in the departure lounge, a snack on board the super interesting Fokker 50, smiling staff! The last time I flew home, I even cycled to the airport!
During our trip, we rented two small cottages and a big house at the Rostrevor Holidays. The site was small so walking between the houses wasn't an issue and having the big house so well stocked meant that we could enjoy our dinners, drinks and downtime comfortably!
As for the hiking, we went to the Mourne Mountains and trekked up Slieve Donard. That link is not the exact route we followed but it's close enough. In numbers, we walked a total of 16 miles, up 853 metres, for (roughly) six hours and it took three days for my legs to recover. Honestly, I was hobbling like an old lady the day after! But it was beautiful and challenging and so worth it.
Looking down once we had reached the top, I was exhilarated that I actually did it!!
